2008 Blanket Drive for Metro Moncton Homeless - Deadline, December 12th, 5pm.
For the second annual Blanket Drive for Metro Moncton Homeless, we are collecting clean blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, winter coats, winter boots, socks, tuques, hats, scarves, gloves, warm clothes, steel toed boots and shoes (mens and ladies), work gloves, backpacks, duffle bags, suitcases, toiletries, (especially hotel sized soap and shampoo bottles, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, etc.), sandwich bags and baggies, diapers, feminine products, bus tickets, canned milk, food vouchers (sobeys gift cards), coffee coupons, laundry tokens etc. Anything useful is greatly appreciated.
Anyone wishing to donate large items, such as furniture, please call Nadine at 961-0963 for more information.
The collected items will be distributed to outreach programs including YMCA Reconnect, Nazareth House, Crossroads for Women,Youth Quest, Moncton Youth Residences, MAGMA, Boutique Encore, SIDA/AIDS Moncton, Harvest House, St-Vincent de Paul, Mobile One, Karing Kitchen and Ray of Hope for our local homeless and at risk citizens as well as other local area programs that serve the homeless, people at risk of being homeless, and people living in poverty in our region.

In the Statistics Canada 2001 Census, in Westmorland county, there was 14.7% of our local citizens or a total of 17,925 people living below the poverty line.
On average YMCA ReConnect Staff conduct 250 interventions with clients per month. Youth represent 20% of interventions and Adults represent 80% of interventions. The program also averages 20 new clients a month.
The Mobile One Soup Kitchen serves meals in the evenings and on weekends throughout Moncton.
